Charity Focus

Had attended this event where Nipun Mehta from Charity Focus spoke about social entrepreneurship and engaging stories about Mahatma Gandhi, Aravind Eye Care, Kalyan Bhel from Pune, etc. His motive: "Bring smiles to the world and stillness to my heart". I heard for the first time about "Generosity entrepreneurship". After finishing the session along with Premal Shah from Kiva he gave hugs to everyone who came to talk with him quite in sync with the free hugs campaign.

CharityFocus is an all volunteer run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that endeavors to leverage technology for inspiring greater volunteerism and providing meaningful volunteer opportunities for all who want them -- no matter what their skills, how much time they have to give, where they are located, and what their interests. In the process, CharityFocus volunteers provide much-needed assistance to nonprofit organizations worldwide and create inspiring local events that manifest the spirit of service.

Here, are some highlights form his wonderful talk:
1) Find value where nothing exists, discover surplus
2) You have to be efficient
e.g. Aravind Eye Care which was a radical innovation and streamlined the process
If you have the time do read the story of Dr. Venkataswamy), the legendary eye surgeon from South India who made it his mission to restore sight to the blind and whose work has resulted in one of the world's most extraordinary models of service delivery. Aravind Eye Care System today is the largest and most productive eye care facility in the world.
3) Create new value (synergistic value)

I would recommend subscribing to the the Daily Good Blog from them which is essentially an inspiring quote, a related good-news story, and a simple action -- delivered to your inbox for free by volunteers every day. Just a ripple a day, simply to spread the good.

Also, follow them @CharityFocus
